School Library Journal Review
PreS-Gr 2-- Two small books that are sure to please youngsters. Although the ``Eyewitness Junior'' series (Knopf) does an excellent job of depicting detailed, close-up views of various objects, this series offers a new dimension; it features brightly painted transparent overlays to let readers experience the magic of an apple ripening, or a larvae turning into a full-grown ladybug. The spare texts follow the illustrations, introducing key vocabulary words by placing them directly under the appropriate item as in a picture dictionary. Additional notes on each page make these : selections appropriate for one-on-one sharing. Simple but accurate introductory presentations with glossy, eye-catching illustrations. --Debra S. Horn Book Review
An outstanding, enjoyable, and colorful book for the very young which features transparent plastic pages that are used creatively as overlays to thoroughly explore the subject of fruit. Construction is very sturdy; the illustrations are simple yet contain essential details; and color reproduction is wonderful throughout. From HORN BOOK 1991, (c) Copyright 2010.
