Summary:

Dear Listener,

I'm sorry to say that our good sheriff, Troy Davis, has suffered a disappointment in love. He was hoping to marry his onetime girlfriend, Faith Beckwith, who recently moved back to town. Well, the latest is that Faith ended the relationship last month, even though both of them are widowed and available. According to Troy, there were a few misunderstandings between them--some inadvertently caused, it seems, by his daughter, Megan.

Troy's got plenty to keep him occupied, though--like the unidentified remains found in a cave outside town. And the break-ins at 204 Rosewood Lane, the house Faith just happens to be renting from Grace Harding....

All of that's a distraction from what's happening in my life. I'm going through chemo right now, and I'm so grateful for my husband, Jack, my family and my friends, who give me the strength and support I need to beat this. But beat it I will

I'd suggest meeting at Troy's place, 92 Pacific Boulevard, so we can all talk, but the Pancake Palace is probably a better choice if you want a decent cup of coffee

Debbie Macomber was born on October 22, 1948 in Yakima, Washington. Her first novel, Heartsong, was published in 1984 and became the first romance novel ever to be reviewed in Publishers Weekly. She has written more than 150 novels including Between Friends, Family Affair, Starry Night, Last One Home, Mr. Miracle, Merry and Bright, the Blossom Street series, the Cedar Cove series, and the Rose Harbor series. She received Romantic Times Magazine's Lifetime Achievement Award.

Macomber's ninth "Cedar Grove" novel focuses on the town's sheriff, Troy Davis, and his off-again, on-again romance with his high school sweetheart, Faith Beckwith. A recent widower, Troy is preparing to marry Faith, when his daughter Megan, upset that her father is marrying so soon after the death of her mother, strenuously objects. Various characters from previous novels make cameo appearances, and Macomber sprinkles enough clues in the final pages for fans to guess which characters will appear in her next title. Verdict Macomber does not write with the depth or complexity of an Anita Shreve or a Jodi Picoult, but her novels are popular with readers who enjoy light and entertaining fiction.
