School Library Journal Review
PreS-In this large-format flap book, Sam, a bunny, dresses up in a series of costumes. As a clown, he hides behind multicolored balloons; as a pirate, behind a red treasure chest; as Batman, behind a blue rocket ship, etc. Finally, Cowboy Sam's little sister (a princess) and two friends (both clowns) join his costume party. The art is exuberantly appealing and childlike, with the colorful forms outlined in a blunt black line that both exaggerates and boldly delineates details. A treat for toddlers.-Marilyn Taniguchi, Beverly Hills Public Library, CA (c) Copyright 2010. Library Journals LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Media Source, Inc. No redistribution permitted.
Publisher's Weekly Review
Yves Got's Sam series continues with the oversize paper-overboard lift-the-flap book Where's Sam? Here, Sam plays a dual game of dress-up and hide-and-seek. For "Who is hiding behind the balloons?" readers lift a colorful flap to discover "It's Sam the clown!" The bunny also masquerades as a pirate, crocodile and knight, among other characters. Horn Book Review
In this latest Sam book, seven huge gatefold flaps open to reveal the answers to questions such as, Who is hiding behind the balloons? In each case, it's bunny Sam, trying out a different costume at his costume party. The simple premise and large, bold images resembing Lucy Cousins's work will entice toddlers. Unfortunately, it's impossible to distinguish Sam from his friends in the final spread. From HORN BOOK Fall 2003, (c) Copyright 2010.
