Gr. 1-2. This entry in the We Both Read series offers glimpses of tropical rain forests in crisp, close-up images and side-by-side text for adult and child. Brief sentences and simple vocabulary introduce basic facts about the rain forest's climate, ecosystem, and animals on the right-hand page; on the left-hand page is additional information (there's no repetition) for more advanced readers. Young ones fascinated by the rain forest will find plenty of riveting color photos to help propel them through the text (a head-on shot of a growling jaguar is particularly stunning), although a map or other visual indicating where tropical rain forests are located around the globe would have been useful.
