Summary:
Where the red fern grows: A young boy living in the Ozarks achieves his heart's desire when he becomes the owner of two redbone hounds and teaches them to be champion hunters.

Proud rebel: Proud rebel Alan Ladd wanders the land looking for a doctor who can cure his mute son. Experience the warmth of a father's love and faith, the devotion of a boy for a dog, and the understanding of a strong woman.

Seven alone: This is the story of the Sager family. Caught up in the westward migration, they left their Missouri home in 1843 for the "black soil" of Oregon. The pursuit of their dream brings a multitude of challenges.

Against a crooked sky: Sam Sutter is the only one left who believes that his sister is still alive after her capture by the Indians and against the wishes of his family he embarks on a search for her. He faces insurmountable odds and the dangers of the wilderness but perseverance leads him to his sister, now married to an Indian prince but condemned to die for a petty crime. Sam now must face the toughest and possibly the last battle of his life.

The long road home: Being left with nowhere else to go Seth moves to his grandparents farm in Utah. Seth grows up fast when his grandfather is attacked by a marauding bear.

Missouri traveler: 15-year-old orphan Biarn Turner (De Wilde) struggles to survive in the rural South in the 1910's. He arrives in a small town where crusty small-town newspaper editor Doyle Magee (Merrill) decides to take the boy in and give him a chance at a regular life. Wealthy local farmer Tobias Brown (Marvin) also takes an interest in Biarn's future, but treats the young man cruelly, masking Tobias' real hidden feelings of affection and genuine concern. Biarn also proves his worth by training racehorses for the climactic annual horse race.
