School Library Journal Review
K-Gr 3-Young readers will feel the excitement that Cook's TV show generates as each title opens with the phrase, "This is Daniel Cook," along with an introduction about the things that he likes to do. With hands raised, clad in his orange T-shirt, he takes readers on four typical outings. Chock-full of fun facts and amusing, colorful photographs, each book has an activity at the end. These titles are great preparations for field trips, making them excellent for school libraries.-Tracy Bell, Eastway Elementary School, Durham, NC (c) Copyright 2010. Publisher's Weekly Review
Fans of the TV star will welcome the first four books in the This Is Daniel Cook series of paper-over-board books: This Is Daniel Cook at the Farm; This Is Daniel Cook at the Fire Station; This Is Daniel Cook on a Hike and This Is Daniel Cook on a Plane. With full-color stills from the television program, the books offer information on each of the four subjects, often with asides from the young, inquisitive hero, and close with a related activity. Horn Book Review
The ever cheerful Daniel Cook visits a farm in this companion piece to his Canadian TV show. Young Daniel meets the animals, feeds them, milks a cow, etc. The animal facts may be interesting to young readers, but only Daniel's fans will be entertained by the photos of him in action. A finger-puppet craft completes the story. (c) Copyright 2010. The Horn Book, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Media Source, Inc. No redistribution permitted. All rights reserved.
