Horn Book Review

Big Pig finds a map in a hat, and, convinced it will lead to old gold, begins to dig (after putting on a wig and hopping on a twig). Instead of treasure he finds only Funny Bunny, and Fat Cat reveals she just drew the map for fun. Mild humor, repetition, large type, and simple sentences make this phonics-based text accessible to pre-readers, but the saccharine story and art don't hold much appeal. (c) Copyright 2010.
