Booklist Review

In this sequel to Catmagic (2009), Lottie encounters mean-girl Zara on the first day at her new school. Zara commands that everyone ignore Lottie, and most of them obey except for Ruby. As the girls' friendship develops, Lottie wonders which details of her living arrangement (extended family in a magic shop filled with talking animals) she should reveal, until she discovers that Ruby's pet lizards are actually baby dragons. Issues of bullies, trust, and friendship are right on target for this audience, and Webb delivers her message about the ineffectiveness of revenge with a gentle touch.
