Emily Beck Cogburn is a freelance journalist and fitness instructor currently living in Louisiana. She has a bachelor of arts degree in philosophy from the University of Minnesota, a masters degree in philosophy from Ohio State University, and a masters degree in library and information science from Louisiana State University. Her interests include cooking stinky food her children hate, yelling at her class participants to do "just one more rep!" and trying to read while handling requests for more chocolate milk. Divorced single mom Ava barely makes ends meet with child support and a part-time job at the local newspaper in St. Jude, LA. Getting the kids off to school in the morning is challenging, and the annoying dad who blocks the preschool entrance every day with his pickup truck adds to her irritation. Then she encounters the bothersome yet handsome dad, aka Ford, at his café, where he's a cook. Over the best po'boy she's ever eaten, Ava realizes she just might want to take a chance on Ford. As they grow closer, though, Ava's job becomes more precarious. When a full-time opportunity opens up at the paper's New Orleans bureau 80 miles away, Ava takes it. Can their relationship survive the distance and the chaos of family life and careers?
